Ideally, we should be able to do both: basic scientific research to look at fundamental causes for wellness and disease, as well as produce tangible, applicable, diagnostics and treatments for diseases affecting individuals and society.

An interesting aspect of making self-sustaining/profitable and scalable businesses is that their primary focus is to be able to bring to market, products and services which are an immediate answer to current client (patient) problems (needs). Hmmm….
