routinely drawing blood for preventative testing.

injecting an immunization in order to avoid becoming infected and infectious.

removing a kidney stone before it becomes too big to pass on its own.

removing a gall bladder, which had give the patient painful gall bladder attacks in the past, but the patient has had no further pains.

performing a bone marrow biopsy due to anemia, or a kidney biopsy for kidney failure, or a liver biopsy for cirrhosis, even when the patient had not experiencing significant symptoms yet.
