Your remembering uses energy to bring your memories of the past into the present.

Bringing the past into the, “now” allows you to take apart, rework, re-form (reconsolidate) and then re-shelve those memories in such a way that you can help your present self.

This is a major benefit of talk therapy and the essence of trauma recovery therapy.
