My texting with a 23-year-old friend about some of his frustrations at work…

The friend: I make so many repeated “attention to detail” mistakes, and I’ve had this problem my entire life.

It’s a huge source of anxiety, stress, and insecurity for me because people always point it out and blast me for it.

I always get ridiculed and belittled about this.

My response: Once you understand and, in large amounts, accept yourself, you will be much happier no matter what other people think, say, or do.

The friend: True, but it has an impact on my work life, makes friends angry at me etc. It creates so much headache for me.

My response: Then you’re not in the right line of work for how your brain has been created.

I’m not telling you that you can’t change your brain in a variety of ways, but in the end, there is the deep-rooted YOU in you, that you have to listen to.

My friend: Right. I’ll have to figure out a way around this.

My response: LISTEN to your internal conversation… the wisdom as well as the negative shit, especially the negative self-talk… they both have to be addressed.
There is a reason why you are distracted and have internal conversations.

You don’t have to believe everything that you think or feel, but they need to be addressed so that you can have some sort of détente with your inner self.
