SIMPLIFY AND SYSTEMATIZE OUR LIVES. OUR LIVES ARE MADE OF SIMPLE AND COMPLEX (BROKEN DOWN INTO MULTIPLE SIMPLE) DAILY ROUTINES. MAKE THESE GOALS SIMPLE AND ACHIEVABLE.

BEING ORGANIZED DOES NOT MEAN BEING RIGID, INFLEXIBLE, enduring LOSS OF FUN, or having a LACK OF SPONTANEITY. Recognize that when we have completed what we have scheduled, then we are DONE, FREE, UNENCUMBERED! Write EVERYTHING down in a specific spot. Severely limit how many (i.e. keep it to one or two) places you haveContinue reading “SIMPLIFY AND SYSTEMATIZE OUR LIVES. ONE OF THE QUIRKS OF BRIGHT PEOPLE IS THAT ONCE THEY ARE REQUIRED TO PERFORM A TASK, THEY CAN RECOGNIZE, UNDERSTAND, AND PERFORM A FEW ROUNDS OF A ROUTINE, OR MUNDANE TASK. THEN, OFTEN, THEY LOSE INTEREST.

These same bright people don’t understand why others are angry with them when they falter by not completing the task, have difficulty sticking with the task, or even procrastinating about starting the task. These same bright people KNOW what to do, HOW to do it, and the IMPORTANCE of completing the task, but, mentally, theyContinue reading “ONE OF THE QUIRKS OF BRIGHT PEOPLE IS THAT ONCE THEY ARE REQUIRED TO PERFORM A TASK, THEY CAN RECOGNIZE, UNDERSTAND, AND PERFORM A FEW ROUNDS OF A ROUTINE, OR MUNDANE TASK. WITHIN OUR OWN FAMILIES, WE HAVE TEENAGERS WHO WILL PUMP IRON FOR HOURS PER WEEK, DO INSANE PHYSICAL FEATS, REPEATEDLY, FOR TIK TOK, BUT WILL NOT DO ANY OF THESE SIMPLE PHYSICAL ACTS FOR AN HOUR OR TWO A WEEK: PICK UP THEIR ROOM, PUSH A LAWN MOWER, RAKE LEAVES, DO THE DISHES, TAKE OUT THE TRASH (without having to be asked, or having a knock down, dragged out fight).

SOMETIMES WE DO REALLY TERRIBLE QUALITY WORK. CONSCIOUSNESS PEOPLE ARE THE FIRST ONES TO REALIZE THE POOR QUALITY OF THEIR OWN WORK, AS WELL AS THEIR DISINTEREST AND LACK OF MOTIVATION WITH RESPECT TO THIS WORK. THEY DODGE HAVING TO HEAR THEIR OWN INTERNAL, AS WELL AS OTHERS’, CRITICISMS. IT IS OK TO ADMIT ONE’S DEFICIENCIES, LEARN MORE AND DO BETTER…OR MOVE ON TO TASKS AND WORK WHERE WE CAN EXCEL AND THAT GIVE US A TRUE SENSE OF ACCOMPLISHMENT, JOY, AND PRIDE.

IF SOMEONE WERE TO OFFER TO REMOVE THE DAY-TO-DAY ROUTINE OF BRUSHING OUR KIDS’ HAIR AND THEIR TEETH, DRIVING THEM TO SCHOOL, LISTENING TO THEM DRONE ON ABOUT ESOTERIC, OR MEANINGLESS TOPICS, READING TO THEM, OR TUCKING THEM INTO BED, WE WOULD NOT TAKE THEM UP ON THAT OFFER. THERE ARE MANY MUNDANE, REPETITIVE TASKS WHICH WE WOULD NEVER GIVE AWAY TO ANOTHER PERSON.

So much of life is not about speed and efficiency. We forget that what we try to accomplish at work, and the means we use to accomplish these goals, does not always apply to our personal lives. Charles Tadros, M.D. November 27, 2021 Saint Louis, Missouri

FOR PROCRASTINATORS…WALK INTO WORK AND START WORKING EVEN BEFORE YOU PUT DOWN YOUR BELONGINGS, TAKE OFF YOUR COAT, OR GET A COFFEE. STAND WHILE YOU PERFORM THE BORING OR UNPLEASANT TASKS. START THE DAY RUNNING IN ORDER TO SET YOUR INTERNAL TEMPO.

DO NOT let tasks dictate how long they are going to take of your time. In a procrastinator’s mind, tasks will take forever, therefore we don’t want to start them. YOU decide how much time you will put into a task, even if it is not enough time to finish that task…AND STICK TO THEContinue reading “FOR PROCRASTINATORS…WALK INTO WORK AND START WORKING EVEN BEFORE YOU PUT DOWN YOUR BELONGINGS, TAKE OFF YOUR COAT, OR GET A COFFEE. THE SMALLEST PROJECTS OR TASKS WILL TAKE AN EVER INCREASING AMOUNT OF TIME, BOTH MENTALLY AND IN REALITY, DUE TO OUR: PERFECTIONISM, ANXIETIES, FEAR OF MAKING MISTAKES, AND DUE TO OUR DISTRACTIBLITIES.

SOMETIMES THE DRIVE TO WORK ON HARD PROBLEMS, AND TO TRY AND ACCOMPLISH DIFFICULT TASKS, IS NOT SO MUCH FOR THE GLORY, OR FOR THE ACCOMPLISHMENT, BUT BECAUSE THE FOCUS NEEDED IS A DISTRACTION FROM OUR TUMULTUOUS PASTS AND A MOMENT OF SOLACE FROM OUR INNER TURMOILS.

ONCE YOU BECOME ESTABLISHED AND ACCOMPLISHED AT EVEN ONE NEEDED OR DIFFICULT TASK, YOU TEND TO ATTRACT PEOPLE WHO WANT TO WORK WITH YOU.  IN MANY WAYS, THIS CAN MAKE YOUR LIFE EASIER. WITH THE HELP OF OTHERS, THEY ALLOW YOU TO CONTINUE TO WORK ON THE PROJECTS THAT YOU WANT / ARE ACCOMPLISHED AT PERFORMING. IN EXCHANGE, YOU MAY BE ABLE TO OFFLOAD THE PROJECTS AND TASKS THAT YOU ARE NOT WANTING TO PERFORM AND ARE NOT GOOD AT PERFORMING.

SIMPLIFY, SIMPLIFY, SIMPLIFY! IT IS NOT THAT WE CANNOT BE SOPHISTICATED, NUANCED, AND COMPLICATED, BUT OUR LIVES, AND THE LIVES OF THE PEOPLE WE TOUCH, CAN BECOME DRAMATICALLY MORE PREDICTABLE, CONSISTENT, AND LESS STRESSFUL WITH RESPECT TO…
