My text to a 22 year old family friend about the dislikes of his first full-time job…and my sense of the world as a 58 year-old father, husband, son, brother, physician, and former employee (turned employer).

Thanks for hanging out yesterday.I see a direct line between people who loved me and supported me (and often suffered while doing so) to my being able to sit casually with you to have a nice lunch, decades later. Seriously consider listening to what you think, say, and feel as NOT being abnormal or diseased.Continue reading “My text to a 22 year old family friend about the dislikes of his first full-time job…and my sense of the world as a 58 year-old father, husband, son, brother, physician, and former employee (turned employer).”

Not having $1 vs having $1 while being in debt to someone for that $1 may look the same when we look at our balance sheets and net worth. However, they certainly don’t feel the same.

The vast majority of us have credit card debt, home loan debt, automobile loan debt, school loan debt, medical bill-related debt, gambling debt, investment margin debt, business-related debt, liens against our property, or owe money to a friend or relative. Too often, these debts last long after the joy and usefulness of the purchased productContinue reading “Not having $1 vs having $1 while being in debt to someone for that $1 may look the same when we look at our balance sheets and net worth. It is very hard for you to notice the need for change, initiate that change, or even sustain that change if everything and everybody around you is signaling that: they don’t care if you try to change, or that they don’t notice the need/your need for change or that they won’t participate in supporting your change.

You can read all the self-help books and watch all the self-help videos, and finally be convinced and finally have a strategy for your helping yourself make a needed change. Unfortunately, your friends, coworkers, relatives, and loved ones have not been on the same journey with you. Often, you will need their encouragement, support, andContinue reading “It is very hard for you to notice the need for change, initiate that change, or even sustain that change if everything and everybody around you is signaling that: they don’t care if you try to change, or that they don’t notice the need/your need for change or that they won’t participate in supporting your change.”

A recent text to one of my dearest friends, regarding a very difficult time with a new diagnosis…

Your care is in very competent and kind hands. You are surrounded by a loving family. Some of life’s problems become fully resolved, never to return again. The majority of the problems that we face require a mixture of trade-offs and adjustments to living with limitations that we don’t like, but are made easier withContinue reading “A recent text to one of my dearest friends, regarding a very difficult time with a new diagnosis…”

It’s OK to love someone who is hurtful and toxic, while keeping them at an arm’s length. This includes family and friends, as well as former business and romantic partners.

Being a good person does not include standing by, silently, while being endangered, shamed, embarrassed, controlled, or abused. Charles Tadros, M.D. September 3, 2022 Saint Louis, Missouri

BENEFITS OF COOKING OUR OWN FOOD…

We understand and appreciate: organization, planning, storage, space utilization, assistants, assistance, tools, work flow, completeness, exactness, freestyling, waste, cost, quality, time, timing, and coordination. We are more likely to appreciate the efforts and foods prepared by others. We may consider growing some of our own foods (even a simple windowsill herb garden). We appreciate theContinue reading “BENEFITS OF COOKING OUR OWN FOOD…”
