The more I think about it, the more I see our personal health is a confluence of our genetics, proteomics, epigenetics, and our microbiome with these external factors: our education (general education and education specific to our own health), socioeconomic status, stress, nutrition, sleep, exercise, beliefs, love, connections, support, and priorities.

OF NOTE, SOME, BUT NOT ALL, BELIEVERS TOUT THAT NO ACTUAL WORK TOWARD THESE GOALS IS NEEDED. THE UNIVERSE WILL PROVIDE.

ONE OF THE TECHNIQUES, THAT HAS WORKED WELL FOR ME, AS A PHYSICIAN, WHEN COUNSELING PEOPLE WHO ARE STUCK IN THEIR LIVES, IS TO ASK, “WHAT DID YOU WANT TO DO/WANT TO BE, WHEN YOU WERE BETWEEN AGES 11 TO 16?”. THESE ARE THE YEARS WHEN WE CAN THINK ABSTRACTLY, AS WELL AS DREAM BIG, BUT NOT BE RESTRICTED BY THE MANY SELF-COMPARISONS TO OTHERS AND THE MANY WORRIES ABOUT THE PRACTICAL NEEDS OF MAKING A LIVING. THESE CHILDHOOD DREAMS ARE STARTER SEEDS TO REASSESS WHERE WE ARE, WHERE WE ARE GOING AND WHERE WE WANT TO BEIN OUR ADULT LIVES.
